Manager, Quality and Risk Management – Permanent Full-Time 
Position summary: The Manager, Quality and Risk Management, reporting to the Vice President Risk, Quality and Clinical Transformation will work cooperatively with all teams to provide leadership in the areas of hospital wide quality improvement and enterprise risk management. This individual will foster inter-professional best practices; the development and implementation of infrastructures to promote quality improvement across the organization; and the development of integrated systems to manage risk and promote a culture of safety.

Responsibilities include: 
  • Establishes, leads, supports and evaluates a robust program of quality improvement, patient safety and enterprise risk management;
  • Leads the quarterly development, reporting and annual refresh of corporate Key Performance Indicators
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for improvement, leveraging of resources and support for the implementation of best practices
  • Prepares and manages department budgets, identifies operational and staff budget requirements, prepares projections, reviews variances and authorizes expenditures within budget and approved limits
  • Leads the implementation of Quality methodology and framework to strengthen organizational culture;
  • Oversees the management of measures and indicators, ensuring information and data are tracked and analyzed
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and works collaboratively to develop and implement action plans
  • Leads the organization through both the Accreditation Canada Qmentum process as well as the Health Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) Risk Assessment Checklist program
  • Develops action plans to enable standards to be met, assessing risks of non-compliance, relaying implication to leaders and providing recommendation on how to mitigate those risks and close gaps
  • Facilitates key stakeholders in the annual Quality Improvement Plan development, submission and monitoring
  • Develops and supports comprehensive systems to prevent, detect, analyze, report, and investigate risk and/or adverse events in an effort to improve quality and safety
  • Coordinates hospital wide efforts for the reduction, avoidance or elimination of identified risks
  • Acts as a resource for departments and services in choosing appropriate strategies for mitigation of risks
  • Responsible for hospital Liability and property insurance policies and claims management activity with insurers
  • Oversees the development, communication and education of corporate policies and procedures for emergency preparedness
  • Manages the debriefing process following an emergency code to learn and identify future opportunities for process enhancement following actual events
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience: 
  • University degree in Health Administration, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety or healthcare related area.
  • Minimum 5 years’ of recent healthcare experience with demonstrated leadership in the areas of Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Enterprise Risk Management and the Accreditation Canada process preferred
  • Current affiliation with organizations and/or associations focused on quality improvement, patient safety and risk management in the health care sector preferred
  • Regulated Health Professional and in good standing with respective regulatory college
  • Certification in the areas of Enterprise Risk Management, Quality & Patient Safety
  • Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
  • Member of Professional Association preferred
  • Member of Canadian College of Health Leaders preferred
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach mentor and motivate.
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
