Job Description

Urgent Care Clinic – Regular Full-time

Geriatric Psychiatry – Ambulatory Care (Bilingual) – Regular Full-time

Operational Stress Injury Clinic - Kingston, Ontario – Regular Full-time

Duties:

  • Support triage, assessment, and follow-up care for individuals presenting in crisis.
  • Works in partnership with the program psychiatrist to deliver short-term treatment plans for clients who meet appropriate criteria, working independently with appropriate oversight from the psychiatrist.
  • Integrates clinical findings and evidence-based practice to formulate diagnoses and develop initial care plans.
  • Collaborates with patients and members of the interdisciplinary team to identify and implement pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions that promote optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in the dissemination and utilization of best practice guidelines.
  • Provide education, mentorship and support to the health care team, primary care providers, hospital partners, and community groups.
  • Advocates for supportive and safe client care as well as collaborative practice and utilization of evidence-informed practices, in conjunction with other primary care providers at The Royal including the NPs across the hospital.

Qualifications:

  •  Master’s Degree in Nursing or BSCN with specialty certification as Nurse Practitioner is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience is required.
  • urrent registration as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario in the Extended Class is required (CNO).
  • Specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner – Primary Health Care (NP-PHC) or Nurse Practitioner – Adult.
  • Master’s preparation as a Nurse Practitioner or BSCN with specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Able to demonstrate achievement of the nurse practitioner competencies of professional role, responsibility and accountability, health assessment and diagnosis, therapeutic management and health promotion and prevention of illness and injury.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation and incorporation of this legislation into practice (Mental health Act, Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decision Act, PHIPA and CSA).
  • Recognized leadership skills with the ability to build the inter-disciplinary team approach to care delivery.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional inter-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • CPR.
